To understand the theme of this Lunar Eclipse, we must understand more about the current position of the Lunar Nodes. The Lunar Nodes describe the trajectory of our evolution.
The Nodes moved into Gemini/Sagittarius on May 6, 2020. We had our first Eclipse with the nodes in these signs on June 5, 2020. Themes from then may resurface now and over the next month. Some concepts from that astrology report include: Are we living in the fabric of things, or in the fabrication? Who puts the ‘cult’ in culture?
Gemini + Sagittarius form the axis of learning, communication, and meaning-making.
How do we know what we know? Why do we believe what we believe? Thoughts are spells - what are we telling ourselves?
As the nodes travel here until January 18, 2022, we question the nature of reality. Faced with #fakenews and disinformation campaigns from multiple angles, we explore how we make sense of things inside a tyranny of noise and static.
A parable that communicates the theme of the Nodes in Gemini/Sagittarius is that of the blind men and an elephant. “The moral of the parable is that humans have a tendency to claim absolute truth based on their limited, subjective experience as they ignore other people's limited, subjective experiences which may be equally true.” (Blind Men and an Elephant, 2020 Nov 11 in Wikipedia)
The South Node in Sagittarius describes perception heavily influenced by dogma. Polarizing views. Extreme opinions and philosophies held with a religious fanaticism. Ideological grandstanding. Knowing-it-all. The need to be right. Opinion over fact. Mental gymnastics. The influence of mass media. Self-righteousness and moral superiority. Confirmation bias. Cult-think and ideological purity. Elitist abstract thought. A big narrative. Wild abstractions with a moral or ethical bent. Institutionalized cultural conditioning. Globalism. Unfettered colonial expansion.
On the positive side, the South Node in Sagittarius can help us tap into the wisdom of our lived experience. It is not enough to believe the big stories and accept them as truth. We must go on a quest and journey to discover truth for ourselves. We release the need to be right. We weave together a tapestry of perspectives to see a bigger picture. We seek perceptions that help us to make meaning, connect us with nature, and integrate our embodied sense of divinity.
The North Node in Gemini emphasizes clear understanding by challenging what we think we know and changing our minds. There is always more to learn. Arithmetic and logical equations create cohesion (1 + 1 = 2). Connecting with people on a neighborly, peer-to-peer, human-to-human level rather than separating into factions based on ideology or system of belief. Local community. Critical thinking. Curiosity. Asking questions. Dialogue. Dialectic. Communication. Active listening. Mental flexibility and playfulness. Cultivating easily-understood and shared language that allows for multiple perspectives and ideas. Local and intellectual exchange.
The etymology of ‘common sense’ is, “ordinary understanding, without which one is foolish or insane.”
The etymology of ‘communicate’ is, “to make common,” and my personal favorite, “to open into each other.”
Our current Nodal journey asks for a midwifery of truth through an open exchange of opposing ideas that lead to harmonic coherence.
Neptune: A Clear View of Mist
Despite the desire for crystal clarity leading to sound judgement and rational answers, Neptune has been square the Nodes at the Southern bend for the last month. The Eclipses on November 30 and December 14 heighten awareness of this influence, which lasts until February 2021.
Confusion can be cleansing.
Neptune here brings high levels of delusion, deception, paranoia, fantasy, and misplaced ideals into the mix.
Imagine navigating a ship without a compass, surrounded by thick fog. What can we “know” with certainty in such a circumstance? Most apparitions appear as a spectral mirage.
When visibility is impossible, feel for the current and follow it. Turn up the dial on prayer. Contact spiritual guidance and support, call in assistance from something bigger than you that knows the way you’re unable to see. Pay close attention to dreams.
